Evelyne, this is wonderful! Some of my dreams have come true but started with my protective Mother insisting I “must be able to provide for myself” which meant for her a career in nursing, the old fashioned kind of loving and giving to people who were sick; it was a guaranteed “income” and security she wanted desperately for herself (family dysfunctions all around). I was terrified of killing some unsuspecting patient so endured sleepless nights before clinical days EVERY ONE. But I persevered and found patient advocacy was my “niche” with an employer who became a dear mentor and supported my advancing career in every way. Those days are memories now and I treasure them.
Whoops, my Apple Pencil hit send before finished. My dreams of love and family are another story; compromised by a an unhealthy absence of self esteem. My dear physician mentor freed me of those issues in my career but not my “other” life which I understand now should and could have been integrated into the whole package. In my current situation, I return to the dreams of my youth apart from my Mother’s worry and like you find myself energized by writing! I am fascinated at the connections here with Alexander Verbeek’s tweet, your finding David there and all the mutual friends I recognize! So happy you are pursuing your dreams and moving on a bit like Alexander and his walk on the Camino Frances to the sea. The link to David’s site was marked “suspicious” by my browser so could go no further connecting there. But I will continue to follow him on YouTube at random times as energy permits. Zoom is no longer possible for me, device issues. Thank you for this and the friendship of all in this community I so enjoy! You are a dear friend & I wish for you the best. DREAM BIG! 😘
Thank you Judith. Yes, finding David and the people from It's Just Us has been life changing. Also thank you for sharing your own experience. It helps to see that we are not alone in our experience.
