Good article. I like the concept of "Dia de los Reyes" as is known in Latino culture more than the westernized view of Christmas -- where the Magi traveled to Bethlehem bearing gifts for the baby Jesus. The Three Wise Men were actually the ones who brought the gifts to the kids and families in Latino/Mexico culture.
And the "Rosca de Reyes" is the "Kings Cake" with an oval shape symbolizing a crown with a small doll baked in. The person who gets the doll must host a party on "Dia de la Candelaria" in February.
I love cultural traditions as they are part of the history of people around the world celebrating in different ways yet we are all the same.
Thanks you Sharon. And thanks for sharing these traditions. I think I prefer Latino culture too. I'd probably refuse the cake though as there's no way I would host a party (unless vitual counts).
I love “muskelkater”; we need that one. I thought after your post on that hike you might have that problem. I fight that every day just getting on with my usual day. Now I have a word for it! Four languages, I’d never keep up. Lots of elections; There’s a dirty word. We try to keep them secure 50 different ways and I sincerely believe they are all different. Makes no sense but USA makes little sense about a lot of things split into 50 states and DC. Longing forward to your podcast; more on plastic, the thing I worry so much about among other climate topics. It’s in our bodies! That should raise some alarm! Happy Sunday dear friend! Take care of the muscles!🦵🦵💃🏼move more to loosen up!

In the Latino culture there is a little more partying going on. I mean when in Rome.....Viva La Mexico! 👸💃lol
Good for them! I'd be the weird cousin sitting in a corner with a book.
Gemütlichkeit is my favorite German-language word.
Funny you should say that - we have now started to adop the Danish word "hygge".
US also and I have to continually check on pronunciation 🙂 Going again now.
I just pronounce it the Swedish way and hope for the best ;-)
I love that you would move the three wise men into the distance. Going to have to figure out how to see that movie.
I'll keep an eye out. It's still playing at theaters here.
back to add:
Oh and, glad you love it. Some people got pretty angry when I did that.

“Looking” forward to podcast, autocorrect is a bummer!
